Rolling Meadows, IL, USA (31 January 2005)—The increasing reliance of businesses on information and the systems that manage, store and transfer it has led chartered accountants to seek experience in information systems audit and security. To meet this demand, the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA) has accredited ISACA® as the only body whose Certified Information Systems Auditor designation (CISA) leads to recognition as a CA-designated specialist (CA•CISA) in information systems audit, control and security.
Of the 38,000 professionals who have received ISACA’s CISA designation since its inception, 379 are eligible for the CA•CISA recognition.
Canadian chartered accountants who wish to obtain the CA•CISA recognition must obtain the CISA certification by passing the CISA exam; demonstrating proof of two years’ work experience in information systems audit, control or security; and abiding by ISACA’s Code of Professional Ethics.
“The CISA designation is a natural progression for any CA who wants to develop and maintain IS audit and control skills and knowledge,” said Jonathan D. Andrews, CA•CISA, Netlearn Services Inc.
Interest in the CISA certification is at an all-time high, with a record-breaking 14,000 professionals sitting for the 2004 CISA exam. A recent study by the Foote Partners LLP named CISA one of the “hot” certifications to watch over the next 12 months and the certification with the greatest increase in value over the past 12 months.
Additional information on the CA•CISA designation is available at www.cica.ca/cisa.
