Jean-Louis Leignel, of France, Elected Vice President of the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA)

Rolling Meadows, IL, USA (20 June 2005)—Jean-Louis Leignel was elected vice president of ISACA® during the organization’s annual meeting held in Oslo, Norway, on 20 June 2005. ISACA, a worldwide leader in IT governance, control, security and assurance, has more than 47,000 members in more than 140 countries.

Leignel, of France, is partner at MAGE Conseil, a consulting firm dedicated to IT governance. He has more than 20 years of experience in controlling and IT management, namely as a director at Deloitte and CIO at Schneider Electric Group. Leignel has served as a member of the IT Governance Institute (ITGI) Steering Committee since 2004 and as vice-chairman of ISACA’s French Chapter since 1999.  He helped develop a strong relationship between the French Chapter and CIGREF, an association of CIOs, which resulted in an annual IT governance symposium.

“Jean-Louis has made significant contributions to ISACA,” said outgoing international president Marios Damianides, CISA, CISM, CPA, CA, partner at Ernst & Young. “His commitment and knowledge are of great value to our members. ISACA is enjoying unprecedented growth and has ambitious plans to continue its leadership in information security, audit, control and governance. Jean-Louis’ experience and expertise will help us achieve our goals.”

Leignel also assumes the role of vice president of ISACA’s research affiliate, ITGI. ITGI was established by ISACA in 1998 to help enterprise leaders ensure that IT supports the enterprise’s mission and goals. To accomplish this, ITGI conducts and publishes original research, most notably the internationally accepted COBIT framework for IT governance, a key tool for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

“ISACA and ITGI are recognized as leaders in governance over information technology,” said Leignel. “As businesses and consumers focus on increased security and control on one side and IT contribution to business performance on the other side, ISACA and ITGI offer training, best practices, standards and publications to help enterprises improve IT control and optimize the return on their IT investment.”

In addition to Leignel, seven other IT professionals were elected to ISACA leadership positions. Everett C. Johnson Jr., CPA, partner, Deloitte & Touche (retired), USA, was elected international president. Re-elected as vice presidents were Abdul Hamid Bin Abdullah, CISA, CPA, deputy director, Auditor General’s Office, Singapore; William C.
