Rolling Meadows, IL, USA (13 December 2005)—Due to unprecedented demand for the June 2005 examinations, ISACA® added a second annual administration for the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certifications, held 10 December.
Registration for the inaugural December 2005 CISA exam surpassed 13,000, despite being offered in limited locations and languages. When added to the June exam total, more than 31,000 exam candidates registered for the CISA exam in 2005. This figure is more than double the number of candidates who registered in 2004. To date, more than 44,000 professionals have earned the CISA certification since its inception in 1978.
Record registration was also experienced for the CISM exam, with nearly 3,000 professionals registered for the 2005 exams. To date, more than 5,500 professionals have earned the CISM certification since its inception in 2002.
The CISA and CISM certifications received American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accreditation in 2005 under ISO/IEC 17024, indicating that ISACA’s procedures meet ANSI’s essential requirements for openness, balance, consensus and due process.
CISA and CISM were also called “hot” certifications to watch in a November 2005 study by independent consultancy Foote Partners LLC.
