ISACA’s CISA and CISM Certifications Earn Reaccreditation of International Standard

Rolling Meadows, Illinois, USA (16 January 2008)—The Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) programs have earned continued accreditation of the international standard ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024 from the International Organization of Standardization (ISO). 2008 marks the third year the certifications have been accredited by ANSI.

ISO, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) developed the globally accepted benchmark, ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024, for organizations that certify individuals worldwide.

This accreditation signifies that ISACA’s procedures meet the international standard’s essential requirements for openness, balance, consensus and due process. To maintain accreditation, certification bodies such as ISACA are required to consistently adhere to a set of requirements or procedures related to quality, openness and due process.

Offered by ISACA—a nonprofit association of 65,000 IT governance professionals worldwide—both CISA and CISM are globally accepted standards of achievement.

The CISA program is designed for information systems audit, control and security professionals. Since its inception 30 years ago, more than 55,000 professionals have earned the certification. CISM is a groundbreaking designation designed for experienced information security mangers. It was established in 2002 and has since been attained by 7,000 professionals. Additional information on all three of ISACA’s certifications, including the new Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) designation, is available at www.isaca.org/certification.
