Rolling Meadows, IL, USA (16 December 2009)—ISACA, a professional association and worldwide leader in IT governance, control, security and assurance, has engaged Professional Examination Service (PES) to conduct an international job practice analysis that will form the basis of the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) examination beginning in June 2011.
Since its introduction in 1978, the CISA credential has become recognized and adopted worldwide as a symbol of excellence in information technology (IT) audit, and has been earned by more than 70,000 professionals. PES has been ISACA’s credentialing partner since 1987.
“A new job analysis is conducted at least every five years to keep ahead of the changing, vital role of IT auditing and the complexities of continually evolving information systems,” said Howard Nicholson, CISA, CGEIT, chair of ISACA’s Credentialing Board.
The CISA job practice analysis, which began in October 2009, seeks input from a global representation of ISACA stakeholders. Working with ISACA’s CISA Job Practice Analysis Task Force, PES will facilitate independent reviews with content experts to create a detailed description of the tasks performed by, and knowledge required of, IT auditors. The results will be validated through a web-based survey distributed to current CISAs worldwide.
“The findings of the CISA job practice analysis are carefully considered and directly influence the development of new test specifications to ensure that the CISA examination reflects the most current best practices,” said Nicholson.
