Rolling Meadows, IL, USA (15 December 2009)—ISACA has been named a finalist in the 2010 SC Awards for outstanding achievement in information technology (IT) security. Its Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) certification was recognized in the Professional Award category of Best Professional Certification Program.
For the SC Awards program, IT security vendor companies and associations nominate entries that are reviewed by a panel of judges who are esteemed security professionals from many different industries. The panel conducts in-depth analysis and considers many factors to determine the finalists.
“Security professionals need to continue building their skills throughout their career and ISACA’s CISM certification program is among the best at helping individuals keep their skills fresh,” said SC Magazine Editor-in-Chief Illena Armstrong.
As a preeminent awards program, the annual SC Awards has recognized security’s key contributors and outstanding products for more than a decade. The SC Awards are designed to honor the professionals, companies and products that help fend off the myriad security threats confronted in today’s corporate world. Individuals, brands and solutions recognized in the program address not only the security challenges prominent today, but also the emerging threat landscape of tomorrow.
Winners of this year’s SC Awards will be announced at a gala dinner and award ceremony to be held in San Francisco on Tuesday, 2 March 2010.
“We are honored that the SC Awards have recognized the value and benefits of the CISM certification,” said Howard Nicholson, chair of ISACA’s Credentialing Board. “Independent studies—and our members’ experiences—consistently show that CISM is in demand by employers and earns high pay premiums, making it a very valuable investment for security managers to make.”
The CISM certification was established in 2002, and since its inception, more than 12,000 professionals have earned the designation. This is the third year in a row that CISM has been named an SC Awards finalist in the Best Professional Certification Program category. ISACA’s Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification won the award in 2009. Additional information on ISACA’s certifications is available at www.isaca.org/certification.
