Rolling Meadows, IL, USA (8 November 2010)—ISACA and The Institute of Internal Auditors (The IIA) have signed a formal memorandum of understanding (MOU) that allows the associations to share knowledge, experience and good practices to better serve a combined membership of more than 260,000 constituents. The MOU came to fruition in September after the senior management of both associations held a meeting at ISACA’s international headquarters.

Examples outlined in the MOU of possible collaborations between ISACA and The IIA include:

  • Speaking and exhibiting at each other’s conferences, seminars and events
  • Conducting jointly sponsored events
  • Encouraging similar cooperation and collaboration among local chapters of ISACA and The IIA
  • Identifying opportunities for joint projects that advance the global internal audit profession and the professional standing of its members
  • Engaging in periodic discussions on matters of public policy that impact the auditing profession

The MOU also includes the possibility of the associations mutually recognizing each other’s continuing education programs to satisfy requisite certification requirements; participating in training and educational programs offered by either association; and coordinating and promoting unified messages and responses to standards setters, regulators and legislators globally and providing them with information regarding professional good practices.
