Rolling Meadows, IL, USA (25 February 2010)—Information technology (IT) professionals in Bahrain have formed a new chapter of ISACA, a nonprofit IT assurance, security and governance association serving more than 86,000 professionals in 160 countries. ISACA now has 186 chapters worldwide.
The ISACA Bahrain Chapter was established to promote IT governance, security and assurance in the Kingdom of Bahrain, one of the leading financial centers in the Middle East. The chapter launched with 199 members and has an ambitious target of increasing membership by 15 percent in the first year of operation.
“Bahrain is a key player in the financial world and our ISACA chapter has a highly talented resource pool that can influence the growing emphasis on professional certification and training in this region,” said Khalifa Y. Al-Jowder, CISA, FCCA, Bahrain Chapter president. “In addition to offering IT and business professionals the opportunity to join ISACA, which is a prestigious, globally recognized organization, they can stay up to date through seminars, workshops and networking. In addition, the ISACA Bahrain Chapter will support local technological initiatives and advancements.”
The Bahrain Chapter aims to be the leading professional body in the field of IT audit and governance in the country, with members from all fields and backgrounds. The chapter also plans to significantly contribute to IT policy-making, both locally and internationally.
The ISACA Bahrain Chapter will hold its first meeting on 3 March 2010 at the Bahrain Society of Engineers in Juffair. It will feature a keynote speaker from Gartner Middle East and will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, an announcement of the chapter’s mission and goals, and networking and question-and-answer opportunities.
