Rolling Meadows, IL, USA (29 May 2014)—As part of its mission to address the cybersecurity skills gap, global association ISACA is introducing a six-part cybersecurity webinar series, available free of charge. The first of the six webinars, 20 Critical Controls for Cyber Defense, will be held Tuesday, 24 June 2014, at 12:00 p.m. EST (16:00 UTC).
The June webinar will be presented by Dr. Vilius Benetis, CISA, CRISC, CEO of NRD CS, a specialized cybersecurity company and a cybersecurity center of excellence for other BAIP group companies that NRD CS assists in creating a secure digital environment for governments, corporations and citizens via technology platforms, workflows and processes. The scope of his work includes design of early warning systems and forensics labs, incident response, and development of national methodologies for identification and monitoring of critical objects in cyberspace.
Dr. Benetis will discuss the 20 critical controls identified by the SANS Institute and the Council on Cybersecurity, including the goals, meaning and application of these controls. The webinar will also include an overview of ISACA’s latest publications on cybersecurity and how they relate to critical controls. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with Dr. Benetis and ask questions.
“I will share tips on how, using very practical means, it is possible to automate cybersecurity in an enterprise and significantly increase its capacity to defend itself,” said Dr. Benetis. “Participants will learn how their contribution to the development of global cybersecurity knowledge and collective defence capabilities can help reduce their vulnerability to targeted international cybercrime.”
The next two cybersecurity webinars in the six-event series will be:
- 29 July 2014—How to Implement the US Cybersecurity Framework using COBIT 5
- 30 September 2014—Advanced Persistent Threats
Other 2014 webinars are scheduled for 28 October, 11 November and 9 December.
The cybersecurity webinar series is part of ISACA’s new Cybersecurity Nexus (CSX) program. CSX, located at www.isaca.org/cyber, includes resources to help cybersecurity professionals at every level of their careers, and to help enterprises navigate the complicated cybersecurity landscape. CSX was developed in collaboration with chief information security officers and cybersecurity experts from leading companies around the world to fill an unmet need for a single, central location where security professionals and their enterprises can find cybersecurity research, guidance, certificates and certifications, education, mentoring and community.
