IT Professionals in Cairo Establish ISACA Chapter to Enhance Egypt’s IT Community

Cairo (20 October 2014)—Information technology (IT) professionals in Cairo, Egypt, have formed a new chapter of ISACA, a global IT association with more than 200 chapters around the world.

With increasing enterprise reliance on information and technology, the demand for IT projects and professionals increases as well. The ISACA Cairo Chapter plans to offer training and guidance for established IT professionals and also new graduates and university students who are interested in pursuing a career in the IT industry. More than 160 members have already joined the chapter.

“By developing this chapter, we hope to offer a great opportunity for IT professionals to gather, network and share experiences,” said Waleed Hammad, president of the new ISACA Cairo Chapter. “We are excited to promote ISACA’s globally accepted knowledge and practices not only with current IT professionals, but also with students and others interested in pursuing a career in the field.”

The chapter will facilitate networking and knowledge sharing in IT audit, information systems governance and information security. ISACA Cairo will invite all local members to a chapter launch event to celebrate its initiation early 2015. Chapter plans include workshops, seminars and events for the business community, training sessions for members, and content for publications to increase awareness of ISACA and the activities and topics the chapter will address.

The chapter will provide training for ISACA’s four certification exams: Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC). It will also provide information on COBIT, a business framework that helps enterprises govern and manage their information and technology.
