 IT Professionals in Curaçao Establish ISACA Chapter to Expand IT Community 

Curaçao (10 March 2014)—Information technology (IT) professionals in Curaçao have formed a new chapter of ISACA, a nonprofit association of more than 110,000 IT governance professionals in 180 countries.

As new regulations are set in place for the financial sector of Curaçao, companies will need to hire well-trained IT professionals to comply with these regulations. The ISACA Curaçao chapter was created to help IT professionals in the area enhance their skills. More than 40 members have already joined the chapter.

“In developing this chapter, we aim to focus on the entire community of IT professionals on the island, including IT managers and risk specialists, but also financial auditors and university students,” said Cai Walters, CISA, CISM, president of the new ISACA Curaçao Chapter. “We are excited to promote the use of globally accepted, industry-leading knowledge and practices for information systems relevant to Curaçao.”

The chapter will facilitate networking and knowledge sharing regarding information governance, information security, business continuity, IT service management, system development and acquisition, outsourcing and IT audit field. The chapter will provide training for ISACA’s four certification exams: Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC). It will also provide information on COBIT, a business framework that helps enterprises govern and manage their information and technology.

The Curaçao Chapter will invite all local members to an event to celebrate its initiation and discuss plans for 2014, which include quarterly meetings with presentations and table topics, certification training, annual seminars with workshops, and COBIT 5 training.

“In addition to new regulations, IT data centers are also being established in Curaçao, and there is an increasing need for skilled IT professionals,” said Walters. “The members are very enthusiastic about these new developments and the support they will receive from this chapter.”
