Ramsés Gallego of Dell Software in Spain Reelected International Vice President of ISACA

ISACA’s New 2014-2015 Board of Directors Will Focus on Emerging Business and Technology Issues.

Rolling Meadows, IL, USA (13 June 2014)—ISACA, a global association serving 115,000 information systems (IS) governance, assurance, risk and security professionals in 180 countries, installed its 2014-2015 Board of Directors today. Ramsés Gallego, CISM, CGEIT, CCSK, CISSP, SCPM, Six Sigma Black Belt, security strategist and evangelist at Dell Software (Barcelona, Spain), was reelected international vice president of the organization.

Now in its 45th year, ISACA develops international standards, frameworks and guidance to help enterprises optimize the value of their information and systems and ensure that technology is fully integrated with the business. ISACA established the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT), and Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC) designations, and recently announced a new cybersecurity certificate and practitioner certification.

These new credentials are part of ISACA’s Cybersecurity Nexus (CSX), a comprehensive program to help enterprises address the global cybersecurity skills shortage and help individuals develop their careers. CSX fills a need for a central source where security professionals and their enterprises can find research and guidance, career resources, credentials, education and training, mentoring, and community. ISACA is also the creator of COBIT, the internationally accepted business framework that enables companies to better manage and govern their information and technology.

“I am honored to serve ISACA and I feel privileged by the opportunity of giving back to the communities where we live and work,” said Gallego. “I see not an era of changes, but the change of an era, where education, training and knowledge will be instrumental for success. I am excited for the things on the horizon for ISACA and am looking forward to a year of continuing to build momentum through a number of activities around the world such as CSX. I am proud to say we put members at the core of everything we do at ISACA.”

Gallego has more than 15 years of security experience, with expertise in the risk management and governance areas, and is an internationally recognized public speaker on topics including cloud computing, risk management and access governance. He is a member of ISACA’s Audit Committee and has served on ISACA’s Guidance and Practices Committee, the CISM and CGEIT Certification Committees, and the CISM Practice Job Analysis Task Force. He also served on the planning committee of the inaugural ISACA World Congress: INSIGHTS and chaired the planning committee for ISACA’s Information Security and Risk Management Conference in Europe. Gallego is president of the ISACA Barcelona (Spain) Chapter. He was recently named Privacy by Design Ambassador by the Government of Ontario, Canada. He is author of ISACA white papers on geolocation, virtualization and sustainability. He alsoearned ISACA’s 2013 John Kuyers Award for Best Speaker/Conference Contributor.

“Ramsés has been extensively involved with many aspects of ISACA and is deeply engaged with the membership and the industry. He is focused on the critical values of ISACA’s mission,” said Robert E Stroud, CGEIT, CRISC, vice president of strategy and innovation at CA Technologies (USA), who was elected international president of ISACA today. “His enthusiasm and commitment are contagious, and he is a tremendous asset to the association.”
