ISACA Announces 2015-2016 Board of Directors
Rolling Meadows, IL, USA (8 June 2015)—ISACA, a global association serving 140,000 information systems professionals in 180 countries, announced its 2015-2016 Board of Directors in Brussels, Belgium, today. Garry Barnes, CISA, CISM, CGEIT, CRISC, MAICD, practice lead, Governance Advisory, at Vital Interacts, Australia, was re-elected international vice president of ISACA.
Founded in 1969, ISACA provides knowledge, standards, networking and career development for information systems audit, assurance, cybersecurity, risk, privacy and governance professionals. ISACA offers the Cybersecurity Nexus (CSX), a comprehensive set of cybersecurity resources, and COBIT, a business framework to govern enterprise technology.
“2014 was a very successful and exciting year for ISACA, and 2015 will continue that trend,” said Barnes. “It has been a privilege and a pleasure to serve our members and drive outcomes such as those we have seen over the last 12 months. I look forward to serving another term on ISACA’s board of directors to continue the progress we have made.”
Barnes has more than 20 years of experience in information and IT security, IT audit and risk management and governance, having worked in a number of New South Wales (NSW) public sector agencies and in banking and consulting. During his tenure in the NSW State Government, Barnes founded and served as chairman and committee member on a government forum for information security management.
Barnes is also a member of the organizing committee for ISACA’s 2015 Oceania CACS conference. He has served ISACA as a member of the Finance Committee, Strategic Advisory Council, Credentialing and Career Management Board, and the CISM Test Enhancement Committee. He has chaired ISACA’s CISM Certification Committee. He also has participated in ISACA working groups and provided subject matter expert reviews of ISACA publications. He is a past president of the ISACA Sydney Chapter, and has also held various chapter roles, including treasurer and membership and certification director.
