ISACA and Deloitte Host Training Week in Miami to Help Security Auditors Think Like a Hacker

Rolling Meadows, Illinois, USA (26 March 2015)—Staying ahead of network attacks and protecting the enterprise requires thinking like a hacker. To help professionals get a perspective on enterprise security from a hacker’s point of view, ISACA, a nonprofit association serving more than 115,000 information systems (IS) security, assurance and governance professionals in 180 countries, is working with Deloitte & Touche LLP to offer “Network Security Auditing” from 11-14 May 2015. The in-depth, four-day training course will be held in Miami, Florida, USA.

Network Security Auditing will provide experienced IS auditors, audit managers and information security professionals with tools and guidance to analyze threats and firewalls, plan and perform security assessments and manage vulnerabilities. The course will help attendees understand how IS audit and assurance play a key role in the security of the enterprise. Through a range of practical presentations and demonstrations, attendees will learn how to:

  • Evaluate risk from an external perspective
  • Describe the purposes of a tiered network perimeter architecture
  • Analyze how a hacker views a target
  • Acquire baseline knowledge of the purpose and functionality of firewalls
  • Explain features and functionality of the major firewall brands (Cisco, Check Point, etc.)
  • Receive hands-on experience reviewing configuration files for firewall rule sets
  • Prepare to evaluate digital risk and various approaches for managing vulnerabilities

“ISACA developed this in-depth training to help attendees gain valuable knowledge from industry experts, and enable them to apply what they learn immediately to benefit their enterprises,” said Robert E Stroud, CGEIT, CRISC, international president of ISACA and vice president of strategy and innovation at CA Technologies. “Eighty-six percent of organizations believe there is a cybersecurity skills shortage, according to ISACA’s recent survey, and training like this helps to address that gap.”
