New ISACA Report Shares Insights from IT Audit Leaders Forums
Rolling Meadows, IL, USA (14 September 2017) — As the technology audit profession evolves and becomes more central to business progress, so do the skills needed to excel in the field, according to the ISACA IT Audit Leaders Forum during this year’s North America and Europe CACS conferences.
During the forums, senior audit executives shared several skills to look for in new audit hires, including:
- The ability to migrate from an audit/assurance role to more of a risk management role
- Critical thinking (skeptical thinking) and being able to state what a finding means to the enterprise
- Writing ability and the ability to explain findings to management
- Judgement on what will/won’t add value
- Emotional intelligence to deal with various levels of management who have differing views on the path the enterprise should take
These finds and more are shared in a new ISACA report titled the IT Audit Leaders Forum Recap.
“We are excited to grow these forums as they provide an environment for IT audit leaders to grow their networks and explore major challenges and opportunities that are shaping the industry,” said Theresa Grafenstine, CISA, CGEIT, CRISC, CGAP, CGMA, CIA, CISSP, CPA, Chair of ISACA’s Board of Directors and the inspector general of the U.S. House of Representatives (House) (USA). “Additionally, ISACA members and other assurance professionals benefit from the resulting reports, which provide a view into what senior leaders are thinking and prioritizing.”
Nearly 80 IT audit leaders from top tier technology companies in varying verticals participated in the forums, providing their insights and concerns in the industry’s current landscape. Major themes included:
- The Future of IT audit leadership
- Challenges facing the audit field
- Emerging technologies
