Rolling Meadows, IL, USA (7 March 2018) —Caspar Berry will bring his unique business experience and poker player’s perspective on risk to his opening keynote for ISACA’s 2018 EuroCACS Conference. The event will gather information systems audit, assurance, control, governance and security professionals, from 28-30 May 2018 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Co-founder of Twenty First Century Media, former screenwriter and a professional poker player, Berry sees the process of decision-making as essentially the process of trying to maximise return on investments. In life, these returns might be better relationships and quality of life. In business, returns can include efficiency and productivity. In his keynote, Berry will discuss the brilliance, limitations and flaws of our innate judgement and decision-making mechanisms, including fear of failure, which often stops people from taking opportunities with high overall returns.
“All decisions are resource allocation decisions – allocations of money, time, passion, patience or dedication,” Berry said. “All these resources are limited, and all are being allocated in a world of inherent uncertainty with a view of getting some kind of return on that investment by a variety of different criteria. That’s what investment is, at a fundamental level, and that's what we're all doing thousands of times a day. In making these decisions, thinking long-term is the key to overcoming fear of failure.”
IT audit, risk, cybersecurity and governance professionals will gather at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre to examine the transformational roles they play in their organizations. Attendees will learn solutions and strategies, including how assurance, risk, governance and security professionals can advance their careers and impact their enterprises.
Attendees of the EuroCACS Conference can earn up to 32 continuing professional education (CPE) hours. This year’s event offers more than 50 sessions in tracks covering:
- Audit and Assurance
- GDPR, Data Analytics & Information Management
IT audit, risk, cybersecurity and governance professionals also can participate in pre- and post-conference hands-on workshops on topics such as COBIT 5, cybersecurity fundamentals and cybersecurity for auditors, a prep course for the CISA certification, and more.
