Professionals at ISACA’s IT Audit Leaders Summit discuss innovation in audit
Schaumburg, IL, USA (12 September 2018) – Digital innovation is driving operational change more rapidly than ever, sparking the need for change within the audit function itself. This topic, as well as other challenges auditors face, were top of mind during this year’s IT Audit Leaders Summits that took place at ISACA’s North America CACS and EuroCACS conferences.
Assurance professionals can now access key insights from this summit in the 2018 IT Audit Leaders Summit Recap, the latest report from ISACA, which shares highlights from key discussion topics and offers practical guidance and actionable steps from a network of senior-level IT audit professionals.
As IT audit leaders explore ways to excel in a changing environment, five recommendations should be considered by IT leaders and practitioners:
- Be transparent— Provide real-time insight to stakeholders.
- Identify—Identify an approach to emerging issues on the forefront and reclassify them after they are no longer a new development.
- Educate—Mentor audit staff so they have the technical knowledge needed to support the business.
- Communicate—Be prepared and able to communicate business risk from a technical perspective, as organizations will want and need to have these conversations in rapidly changing environments.
- Budget—Understand and develop the potential cost of implementing recommendations and prepare for cost vs. benefit discussions.
During these discussions, professionals communicated that change, while inevitable, is necessary for organizations to innovate.
Guidance from this year’s summit was gathered from discussions between from IT audit directors, vice presidents of IT audit, and chief audit executives (CAEs).
