ISACA-Virginia is again sponsoring our 3-day CISM Review Courses. The course utilizes ISACA and industry resources to provide an in-depth view of current exam topics for those who will sit for the Certification exams. The 3-day course covers key exam coverage, sample questions, exam tips and thorough coverage of exam subject matter. Group participation and discussion are encouraged. With the chapter holding registration fees well below market rates, this is a great opportunity for both participants interested in taking the exam as well as others who would like to update and refresh their knowledge of the CISM exam topics and related subjects.
Dates: April 30, May 14, and June 4, 2016
Times: 9am – 4pm Each Day
Brief Bio of the Instructor: John Karabaic, has been active in Information Security (IS) and Privacy for more than 25 years. His experience includes working in the IS field in several state government agencies including DMAS, MCVH, VDH, VDOT, DMV, DOA, Treasury and others, conducting Risk Assessments, HIPAA Compliance Reviews and Security Assessments, and developing IS programs and policies.
He also has many years of IT/IS consulting experiences with Metro IT Services, Keane, Inc., and his own firm, Privacy & Security Solution Services, LLC, a small, veteran-owned business. John has conducted the CISM exam review course for the Virginia ISACA chapter for several years, and has also taught the CISSP review class. He is CIPT, CISM and CISSP certified.
Benefits: The review courses are valuable to anyone registered for the CISM exam. The course is designed to organize your study for the exam, highlight areas of focus, provide an understanding of topic coverage and emphasis on the exam as well as help participants identify their own areas of expertise and opportunity regarding exam topics. Because of the breadth of subject matter on the exams, the courses are also valuable refresher training for auditors and others who may want to update their understanding of control areas, standards and current industry trends.
Prerequisite: Participants interested in sitting for the exam in June should be registered prior to the April 8th final registration date. A basic understanding of information security concepts is useful for the CISM review course. However, all information necessary for passing the exam will be identified in the review course sessions.
Who should attend: Auditors (financial, operational or IT), security and other IT professionals will benefit from the review course. The CISM review course focuses on information security concepts, controls and programs.
What is included? The registration fee includes session admission, the appropriate ISACA review course manual and other printed and/or electronic presentation materials provided by the instructor. Continental breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided at each session.
