Skill and Knowledge Requirements in an Information Technology Environment

In today's fast-changing and competitive environment, effective project management is crucial to most enterprises. Businesses must be able to quickly and reliably implement new products and introduce organizational changes that enhance and sustain business profitability. To this end, projects are established at all levels within organizations. Competent, responsible project managers are key to the success of these projects. This document, which covers the context of project management, competencies required of project managers both specific to project management and to general management, a glossary and a full self-assessment tool, is the result of a two-year research project conducted by a task force of ISACA members and other experts. It is provided exclusively to ISACA members, as a benefit of ISACA membership.

ISACF research provides an overview of the UNICTRAL Model Law and the EU Directive for CIOs, CEOs, CTOs and control professionals. A sample of countries were selected to take part in the research and to answer a survey. The survey provides a:
- Reference point on the status of electronic signatures legislation implementation in the selected countries and where one can obtain additional information regarding specific country legislation on electronic signatures
- Determination if the specific country legislation
- defines the requirements for electronic signatures the same as the legal requirements for hand written signatures
- recognizes foreign certificates and electronic signatures, and determines if any geographic or procedural limitations to prevent cross-border recognition of electronic signatures
- defines or limits the liability of the sender, receiver, or the certification service provider
Two New IT Governance Publications
Here are two recent publications released from the IT Governance Institute: COBIT 4.0 and The CEO’s Guide to IT Value@Risk. The majority of ITGI’s research publications are posted to the member-only section of the ISACA web site for an initial period, to provide members "first-mover" advantage. They are then moved to the www.itgi.org site as a freely available download, accessible by the public.
