ISACA’s Computer Donation Initiative
If you or your employer is looking to discard computers that are less than five years old, chances are that it can be put to good use by a well deserving individual or charity. ISACA encourages corporate responsibility and is pleased offer the following links for individuals and companies that would like to donate used technology for children, the under-resourced and disadvantaged.
The National Cristina Foundation provides computer technology and solutions to give people with disabilities, students at risk and economically disadvantaged persons the opportunity to lead more independent and productive lives. Every day, around the world, NCF is working to ensure that used computer technology resources that no longer meet an enterprise’s or an individual’s needs are given a second productive life as a tool for developing human potential.
Computers for Schools (CFS) is a national, federal government-led program that operates in cooperation with all provinces and territories, the private and volunteer sectors. The program collects, repairs and refurbishes donated surplus computers from government and private sector sources and distributes them to schools, public libraries and not-for-profit learning organizations throughout Canada.
Digital Links International is a London-based not-for-profit computer donation service that started in 2002 and has distributed nearly 25,000 computers in 15 countries across Africa and Eastern Europe. Schools, hospitals and communities in countries such as Kenya, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, South Africa and Ghana have benefited from their work.
