ISACA was saddened to learn of the passing of Ed Barszcz, Past President, and Founding Member of the Detroit Chapter.  In 1974, Ed attended an ISACA (formerly EDP Auditors Association) seminar in Chicago. He returned to Michigan and helped incorporate the 8th ISACA Chapter.  Ed was an active member of the Detroit Chapter for all 37 years since its inception.  He was President for the 1977/78 Chapter year, held various  Board and Committee Leadership roles.  Ed was the Chairperson of the Facilities Committee for approximately the last 15 years while the chapter grew year-over-year.  He led the movement as we outgrew Big Fish II, Tapestry and finally moved to U of M Dearborn.  In 2005, the Detroit Chapter Board of Directors created the Ed Barszcz Lifetime Achievement Award in honor of Ed’s lifetime dedication to the Chapter.  His humor and depth of Chapter knowledge will be greatly missed.
