Q&A with Jo Stewart-Rattray, CISA, CISM, CGEIT, CRISC
With ISACA’s INSIGHTS conference just over one month away, we chatted with Jo Stewart-Rattray, presenter and attendee at INSIGHTS 2013 in Berlin, Germany.
ISACA: You’ve attended all of ISACA’s INSIGHTS conferences. What is the appeal?
Jo: The dynamic nature of the conference. The interaction with world experts in their fields. The sensational networking opportunities and special locations. The interviews, panel discussions, forums and great keynotes. All of these things make INSIGHTS a superlative experience. I particularly love that there are almost no PowerPoint presentations, which can be excruciating. In my part of the world we refer to “Death by PowerPoint!” As a presenter, I believe that getting involved and sharing my insights (pardon the pun) with colleagues and gauging their reactions and experiences enriches my professional practice.
ISACA: What are you most excited about this year?
Jo: Look at the speakers. Look at the location. Who wouldn’t want to hear these world-class experts talk about how they use IT to work smarter for their businesses?
ISACA: How has INSIGHTS benefited you professionally?
Jo: The sharing and gaining of knowledge always benefit our particular fields of practice. This has certainly happened for me through INSIGHTS. I have made valuable professional contacts that have allowed me to expand my professional network which, in a couple of cases, has resulted in bringing new business into my organisation.
ISACA: What are you excited to see/experience in Berlin?
Jo: The last time I was in Berlin there was still a wall dividing the city. So I am very much looking forward to seeing a re-unified city and hearing the wonderful Berliner accent. And with luck, the linden trees will be in bloom. |
