Michael is board director of ISACA, a member of ISACA’s GDPR Working Group and a partner with Haines Watts, a top 15 UK accountancy and business advisory firm, leading its governance, risk and compliance (GRC) and IT advisory service lines. Hughes’ experience includes all aspects of governance, risk and compliance (GRC), providing assurance and advisory services. Working with a wide range of clients from small to large corporations, Hughes assists clients to realize their full business potential by helping them design, implement and operate appropriate governance and management processes. The goal is to ensure effective business use of technology to deliver business value.
Hughes has been involved with ISACA for more than 20 years in a number of roles, both at the local chapter and international levels. Hughes has served on the board of the Central UK Chapter since its inception in 1993, eight years of which were as president. Hughes continues to serve on the chapter board and he also chairs the UK and Ireland Chapter Leaders Group. At the International level, Hughes has served on the Membership Board, Membership Growth and Retention Committee and Finance Committee. He also contributed to the development of COBIT 5.0, COBIT 5 for Risk and the Risk Scenarios for COBIT for Risk. He also lectures on preparation courses for the CISA, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT exams.
