Course Description

The 2-day Cybersecurity Fundamentals blended virtual training course combines expert instructor-led learning with independent study to provide attendees with a thorough understanding of the foundational concepts and principles of cybersecurity. Each half-day course session delivers insight into the concepts that frame and define modern cybersecurity standards, guidelines and practices. Additional preparation materials are included each day to add further depth to the course.

To make the most of this course and use it to aid in preparing for the exam, it is recommended that you understand the following concepts prior to taking this course:

  • Security architecture principles and frameworks (i.e. SABSA, Zachman, TOGAF, etc.)
  • OSI model
  • TCP/IP
  • General firewall features, types, issues, and platforms
  • Networking (i.e. ports, protocols, VPNs, etc.)
  • Application security
  • Risk assessments
  • Business continuity plans (BCP)
  • Cloud computing
  • Mobile technology risks

Becoming familiar with these subjects will optimize your understanding of the materials presented during the course.

Upon completing this course you will be able to:

  • Define the key concepts, roles and domains of cybersecurity.
  • Identify various types of cybersecurity architecture.
  • Identify the key components for securing networks, systems, applications and data.
  • Identify a cybersecurity incident and outline the phases of incident response.

NOTE: Registration is contingent upon full payment of the registration fee. To guarantee registration, course fees must be received two weeks before the course begins. It may take 10 or more business days for a wire transfer or mailed check to reach ISACA, so please plan accordingly. Course materials are not guaranteed to those who register on site or fail to submit payment two weeks prior to the event.

Cancellation Policy

If your plans change and you won’t be able to attend an online event that you have registered for, contact us by phone, fax or e-mail to cancel your registration. All cancellations must be received by the cancellation deadline to receive a refund of registration fees. All cancellation deadlines can be found on our website. A cancellation charge of US $150 will be subtracted from refunds. No refunds can be given after the cancellation deadline. Attendee substitution is permitted up to 10 business days prior to the start of the online course. If, for any reason, ISACA must cancel an online event, liability is limited solely to the registration fees paid. ISACA is not responsible for other expenses or fees incurred.
