Risk Assessment in BCM

There are different methods followed for risk assessment. ISO 27001 connoisseurs use an Asset Based Risk Assessment methodology. Others swear by models like OCTAVE, or FMEA. Business Continuity specialists have not yet arrived at their path to risk assessment.

Which method of risk assessment is suited for the requirements of business continuity?

Risk Assessments in business continuity and disaster recovery planning are specialized. There are many risk assessment tools available. The RA is usually accomplished in a short time frame and includes human, technological, and natural risks. The RA coupled with the business impact assessment or analysis form the basis for determining which mitigation types and strategies will be employed generally using the ALE loss model.
