Cloud needs to transition from technology solution to a business resource.

For cloud to provide enterprise-changing capabilities and the benefits that vendors have promised, it needs to transition from a technology solution to a business resource, which entails understanding what cloud is and what it promises, incorporating business and technical requirements into contracts, monitoring performance against requirements, and appreciating cloud-related risk within the wider context of the business and enterprise risk management.

Gartner predicts the following on cloud in its 2013-2017 report: Market consolidation will displace upto 20 per cent of the top 100 IT services providers. Forces, including Cloud,Big Data, mobility and social media, along with continued global economicuncertainty, will accelerate the restructuring of the nearly $1 trillion ITservices market. By 2015, Gartner predicts low-cost Cloud services to cannibalise up to 15 per cent oftop outsourcing players' revenue, and more than 20 per cent of large IToutsourcers not investing enough in industrialisation and value-added serviceswill disappear through merger and acquisition.
