Auditing ITIL V3 implementations

Hi All

I have planned to audit the implementations of ITIL V3 at one of my clients, its effectiveness, complying with the standard etc.. I am looking for a good audit program / self assessment checklist, / questionnaire, has someone worked on this aspect and audited ITIL V 3. Is such audit program available with some one.

There is a self assessment checklist for version two, i have it downloaded, however i am looking for the version 3. Another idea is to use the mapping of ITIL V 3 and COBIT 4.1 and use the questionnaire of COBIT 4.1 Assurance guide. Does some one has better tools or ideas? Would appreciate.

RE: Auditing ITIL V3 implementations

Have you audit criteria on-hands?
In case you study the overall efffectiveness of ITIL v3 implementation it is reasonable to apply CACTUS framework provided by ITIL v2.

RE: Auditing ITIL V3 implementations

Implementations of ITIL V3 can be a big project because ITIL V.3 is about life cycle of service management.  First, one needs to know the project scope before defining the audit scope.   Implementation of ITIL V.3 is not different from other projects, and one can assess the Project Controls.   Other controls are:
1.  People - sufficient training on ITIL, readiness of staff to take on V.3
2. Technology - the right tools employed, the effectiveness and efficiency, staff buy-in, customisation
3.  Process - the ITIL books are good reference.  However, one must take note that ITSM is about good practices, and the key is to Adopt and Adapt
