Implementing a GRC tool ...

We are about to embark on a project to install a GRC solution.  Are there any existing checklists to help with requirements?  Did you use a consulting team to help you create your requirements and guide you through the process?

RE: Implementing a GRC tool ...

I can share a detailed checklist, but if you can elaborate on your GRC requirements it can help (IT risk? cyber risk? operational risk? policy management? regulations/standards compliance? SoX controls? Audit / Assessment management? etc..

RE: Implementing a GRC tool ...

The tool is really from an IT Risk perspective (compared to ERM).  Primarily we are looking for the piece that sends surveys and contributes to assessments (PCI, SOX, framework).  I would also like Risk Management to maintain a central Risk Register with the capability to get dashboarding.  I would like to assess and track IT Vendor Risk.  I don't see the Audit team utilizing the tool, although I can see us tracking audit issues to closure (possibly as part of Risk Register, or do you see that separately?)   Policy management - it sounds good -is it worth as a tool as opposed to managing those separately?  I hope that helps a little.

Vendor risk / supply chain might be a bit of a challenge and it largely depends on your process.
Some companies send  assessment questionnaires to their vendors and they want the tool to be externally exposed to the vendors, or partially exposed as a kind of a vendor portal, so that vendors can directly upload their answers.

I can send you a list of requirements that you can use a baseline.

Hello, what you seem to be looking for is the OCEG GRC Technology Solutions Guide or "Blue Book" some of you might know of this as the "Blueprint." OCEG is the definitive source for GRC as ISACA is for COBIT. They have a whole suite of resources starting with the Blue Book http://www.oceg.org/resources/grc-technology-solutions/ . These are developed by their Technology Solutions Council chaired by Michael Rasmussen. The Blue Book is then mapped to the Red Book for actually implementing GRC capabilities and then to the Burgundy Book for assessing the implementation of those capabilities. Many resources to make it easier and learn from others. Best, Brian

RE: Implementing a GRC tool ...

Are you looking for a checklist for requirements to select a GRC Tool or how to collect requirements to be used to configure a solution you already selected?  For tool selection, you want to find the most flexible and complete tool that you can "see" your program in.  There are several good ones which are identified in the Gartner GRC study.  In terms of individual program requirements (RCSA, KRI, etc), you should start with your firm's policies and other definitive source documents, but ideally you will have someone serve as an overall architect who will create a design that ensures the individual programs integrate to provide a holistic approach.  We just finished such a project at my company. Let me know if I can help more.

Good Luck,
Steve
