This year marks the first time that ISACA’s International Conference will be held in Cancun, Mexico—and the first time that conference materials will be available in both English and Spanish. This represents a tremendous opportunity for ISACA members worldwide. Those who attend the conference will enjoy the benefits of networking with colleagues from all over the world and receiving knowledge from a group of seasoned speakers (such as keynote speaker Carlos Muriel, CEO of ING Latin America), and will have the chance to participate in a full range of activities in one of the most beautiful places in the world.
ISACA has a very good understanding of the Latin American region. The first chapter outside of the USA was founded in Mexico City more than 30 years ago. We now have 20 ISACA chapters in Latin America. From Buenos Aires and Santiago, in the southernmost part of the region, to Monterrey, Mexico, near the Texas border, more than 3,000 Latin American professionals are ISACA members and the number continues to grow.
Taking in consideration the importance of the region, ISACA created the Latin America Task Force two years ago to develop strategies for the growth of ISACA in Latin America. Since that time, new chapters, including Guadalajara, Mexico, and Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia in Brazil, have been established. Additionally, ISACA research is increasingly being offered in the Portuguese and Spanish languages.
Given ISACA’s involvement and growth in the region, it is fitting that the 2010 ISACA International Conference will be held in Cancun, a paradise in the peninsula of Yucatan and home of the ancient Mayan civilization. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with colleagues from all around the world and access the most advanced knowledge of our profession. And in their spare time, they will find plenty of other things to do: swimming in beautiful waters, diving in the second largest reef of the world, sightseeing around the peninsula and much more.
Hasta la vista, amigos, in Cancun!
