I am excited to tell you about ISACA’s new cybersecurity program—Cybersecurity Nexus. The definition of nexus is a connection and a central core of related elements. That is what this program will be for global cybersecurity professionals at every level of their education and careers.
The velocity of cybersecurity challenges and attacks is creating a global demand for talent—and that escalating demand is outpacing the supply. The industry needs more cybersecurity practitioners and leaders with both technical and business skills.
ISACA is committed to helping fill that gap. For 45 years, companies worldwide have trusted and respected ISACA members and certifications. We began by serving information systems auditors, and we have grown over the years to serve other professions as well—security, governance and risk, to name a few.
With Cybersecurity Nexus, we make a solid commitment. We will do for cybersecurity professionals and the cybersecurity field what we have done for IS audit, assurance and governance over the past four decades. And we will continue to provide these professionals with valuable research, tools and training that are not available anywhere else.
Among the exciting plans for Cybersecurity Nexus is a new knowledge-based certificate for recent college graduates or those looking for a career change to cybersecurity. Collaborations with key organizations such as ENISA, NIST, EC Council and others are underway to benefit global professionals.
We are also developing practical cybersecurity guidance, including an implementation guide for the new US Cybersecurity Framework in which ISACA’s COBIT framework is an informative reference.
I invite you to explore the new Cybersecurity Nexus page and take a look at the resources available. You will see this global initiative referred to as CSX. That X is a variable representing the many different cybersecurity elements this program will have, all contained in one central nexus that you can turn to for guidance, knowledge, recognition and connection.
I am proud to see the association launch this important program. This is the right time, ISACA is the right association to spearhead it, and my fellow colleagues around the globe are the right people to represent it.
