The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a network of the national standards institutes of 164 countries, with a Central Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, that coordinates the system.

ISACA/ITGI has Category A status with the following subcommittees within ISO's Joint Technical committee 1 (JTC1): Information technology:
- SC7—Develops guidance for Software and Systems Engineering
- SC27—Develops guidance for IT Security Techniques, including the 27000 series of Security Standards
- SC40—Develops guidance for IT Service Management and IT Governance
ISACA members who are ISO subject matter experts (SMEs) are invited to volunteer to participate on future ISACA/ITGI review teams for ISO exposure drafts.
