President's Message - April 2017

Aloha ISACA Members,

Spring has sprung! Of course, living in Hawai`i, there didn't seem to be much difference between the last day of winter and the first day of spring. Lucky we live Hawai`i!

Please join us for our April luncheon Tuesday, April 18th at YWCA Laniakea, 1040 Richards St, Honolulu, HI 96813, Fuller Hall. A last minute speaker change has been made. The new speaker will be:

Kenneth Newman , RISC, CISM, PMP, GRC professional specializing in helping to bridge the gap between technology and business:

Bio: More than twenty (20) years of progressive experience in Technology, Security, Risk, Fraud and Privacy with a proven track record delivering risk-based solutions in highly regulated organizations. Successfully introduced new policies and practices supporting revenue growth, improved efficiency, reduced expense, and decreased risk.

Topic: Risk, A Tale of 2 (or more) Assessments

The pace of change for technologies and business capabilities are accelerating. Are all of your various risk, security, and compliance requirements aligned to ensure they support your strategic efforts? As program and project efforts merge across lines of business, risk management practices often remain siloed and act as separate, and sometimes redundant, review activities. In this session, we’ll explore a more holistic way to think about managing risk that can help to both streamline necessary requirements and create a better control environment.

If you did not receive the luncheon invitation, please use the following link for registration. We hope to see you there!

Also, please don't forget to check out the chapter events page. In May, the IIA Hawai`i chapter will be hosting two days of seminars led by John. J Hall, CFA - Speaker, Author and Consultant. If you have never attended one of John's seminars, I highly recommend you consider attending this two-day event. Not only is he a dynamic, engaging speaker, the course offers 16 CPEs at a reasonable cost.

As always, let us know if there are any specific topics you would like to see presented at our luncheons. We will make every effort to bring in speakers that will benefit all our ISACA members.

Sincerely,

Robin
