CMMI - Data Management Maturity

Date: December 12, 2014
Time: 11:30am to 1:30pm
Location: University of Ottawa (SITE Pavilion in Room STEG0103)

AEA Ottawa and University of Ottawa (e-Business Program) are delighted to welcome Melanie Mecca from the CMMI Institute on the 12th of December for a presentation of the Data Management Maturity Model (DMMSM) which offers to be an extension of the famous Carnegie Mellon Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) which has long been a valuable international standard.

The Data Management Maturity Model complements the Data Management Body of Knowledge (one of the primary reviewers is President of DAMA) and provides guidance for Data (Information) architecture and management. With data increasingly viewed as a critical corporate asset in a knowledge-based economy, this DMM model will be key in coping with initiatives such as Big Data in the context of providing timely decision support, transaction processing and records and archiving.

This is a major standard that will influence the Next version of TOGAF (the standard for EA and COBIT 5 APM 003) as well the conduct of data/information / knowledge engineering.

The presenter, Melanie Mecca, is the DMM Product manager with the CMMI Institute in Washington DC. Melanie has been a prime mover in getting this standard published.
