Welcome to the ISACA Victoria Chapter
Our aim is to sponsor local educational luncheons and seminars, conduct regular chapter meetings, and help to further promote and elevate the visibility of the IS audit, control and security profession throughout Victoria, British Columbia.
ISACA (previously the Information Systems Audit and Control Association) is a world-wide association of IS governance professionals. The association focuses on assurance, security and governance, and provides globally recognized certification in Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control certification (CRISC), and Cybersecurity Nexus – CSX Certificate and CSX-P Certifications.

Enterprise cyber security is an ever changing landscape filled with buzz words, next generation technologies and the constant onslaught of attacks. This lunch time session will focus on security hygiene that every public and private organization should internalize before consuming “silver bullet” technologies that promise to solve any and all security problems. You will learn:
1. The present and future cybersecurity landscape
2. Elements of an effective security program
3. Review some of the latest “silver bullet” technologies vs. reality
About the speaker:
Norm Chan is a senior systems engineer with McAfee. Based in Vancouver, BC, Norm joined McAfee/Network Associates in April, 2001, as the Systems Engineer for their industry leading Sniffer Technologies business unit. Today, exclusively focused on security, he works with customers of all shapes and sizes helping to assess their security needs and devise solutions. A combined twenty four years of IT experience has taken him from the help desk to network architecture, enabling him to provide a unique and practical approach to security. This self professed “geek” graduated from The University of British Columbia with a combined major in Physics and Computer Science and has a passion for imparting knowledge to others.
