President - Erica Smith
Erica started off her career in the Information Technology & Information Security fields supporting end users and running networking cables. Since then she has had the opportunity to transition in to the IT Audit field working for several diverse organizations and industries such as Tesoro Petroleum, PwC, USAA and Wells Fargo. With over 15+ years of experience in Information Security and IT Audit fields, Erica holds numerous industry certifications to include her CISA and CISM. In addition to serving on the Phoenix Chapter as a Vice President for 3 years, Erica has also served on San Antonio’s ISACA Chapter’s board for 6 years.
Vice President - Carol Rapps
Carol 35+ years of combined Management of Information Systems (MIS) and IT Audit experience in the banking, publications, oil & gas, manufacturing, healthcare, insurance and education industries. She has been member of ISACA since 1985 and in the past has served as the ISACA Los Angeles Chapter President and Chair of the ISACA International Audit Committee as well as various other roles within the association. In addition to her current job as Assistant Audit Director, Information Systems for The University of Texas at San Antonio she is a member of and actively involved with several other organizations including ACUA, ISSA and IIA. As a member of the ACUA Faculty she continues to lecture and provide consulting services across the nation. Carol received a B.A. in Business Administration from California State University of Bakersfield with a math minor. She is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Control Self Assessor (CCSA), GIAC Legal Issues in Information Technology (GLIT), Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
Secretary - Esther Hernandez
Esther started her career in the banking industry where she gained 9 years of experience in fraud prevention and detection, consumer lending and customer relations. Esther then transferred her focus to the IT industry where she currently holds an IT Auditor position at Rackspace. She recently obtained her MBA from Texas A&M - San Antonio with a concentration in Accounting and is currently studying for the CPA.
Treasurer - Barbara Maldonado
Accomplished and versatile Information Security and Compliance Specialist with 20+ years of comprehensive experience across all aspects of infrastructure, data and enterprise security. She has been a member of ISACA since 2005 and in the past has severed as the Chapter President, Director of Education as well as various other roles within the association. Barb is currently the Global IT SOX Compliance Manager at Rackspace. Barb has a B.B.A. in Accounting from Our Lady of the Lake University. She is a Certified Information systems Auditor (CISA), and Certified in Risk and Information Systems Controls (CRISC)
Membership Director - Robert Gonzales
Robert currently works as the Director Business Risk and Controls for USAA and has over 15 years of experience in Internal and External Audit for larger companies including Rackspace, Petco Animal Supplies, Tesoro, Waste Management, and the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts. Robert holds a BBA in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. He is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and holds the Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA). Robert has served on the local ISACA chapter board since 2012.
Academic Relations Director - Ronald Washington
Dr. Ron Washington is the University of the Incarnate Word, Management Information Systems Department Coordinator and has been working in Information Systems for nearly forty years. He served in the United States Air Force for 25-years in the Information Systems field, spent eight years as an Assistant Vice President with World Savings, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo, holding positions as a Risk Manager, Technical Writer, Business Analyst, Business Continuity Manager and Operations Analyst. He has been a member of ISACA since 2006 and has been the Academic Advocate for the National organization since 2017.
Awards Director - Lynn Fossey, CIA CISA CRMA ACDA CTGA
Lynn is a consultant with more than twenty years experience integrating advanced financial and accounting skills with information systems, financial, and retail industry knowledge. A Masters degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance complements extensive computer and auditing skills and the ability to see the big picture of how daily operations interacts with technology. Lynn is an ISACA member since 2006 as well as an IIA member for over 15 years holding offices that include Certification Chairperson, Newsletter Chairperson, Secretary, and President.
Publications Director – Alex Jovanov
Professional experience includes EY Advisory services (external IT Audit and Consulting), Financial Services Management, and Project Management. Extensive international experience with Fortune 500 companies including projects in New York, US; London, UK; Dubai, UAE; Istanbul, Turkey; Budapest, Hungary and Skopje, Macedonia. Alex has an International Business and General Management undergraduate degrees from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and a MBA from Cameron University, Oklahoma. Alex currently holds a CISA certification.
Webmaster Director - Vijay Surishetty, CISA, PMI_ACP, CSM, ITIL, SAFe (SA), M_O_R, MSP
Vijay currently works as the Senior Program Manager for Enterprise Modeling PMO team at USAA and has over 22 years of experience spanning across Program/Project Management, Operations Management, Program Management Office, Software development for fortune 200 companies including GE Capital, JP Morgan Chase, American Express, AVIVA, Qualcomm and State farm. Vijay holds a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science. He is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) and holds certifications in Risk Management, SAFe Agilist (SAFe SA), Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Managing Successful Programmes (MSP). He had also completed Project Management Professional (PMP) & Projects in Controlled Environments (Prince2) certifications in the past. Vijay has served on the local ISACA chapter board since 2016.
Education Director - Dirce Hernandez, CISA, CISM
Dirce has been in the information security and cyber security area since 2007, starting off as an analyst and working his way through the years to a lead security auditor in both systems and applications at an enterprise level. He has extensive experience in providing assessments, policy/procedure guidance, vulnerability reports, planning and forecasting, initiating procurement proposals, research of security tools, etc. Dirce holds a Master’s degree in Cyber Security and Information Assurance. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Organizational Leadership and hope to have it completed by 2019.
Social Media Director - Carrie Salazar
Carrie Salazar graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor in Business Administration in Accounting and obtained an MBA at the University of Texas at San Antonio. She is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and holds the Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA). She has 14 years of experience in the management, planning, and execution of complex operational, financial, compliance, and information technology audits within the non-profit, government, retail, technology and financial industries. She is currently a Senior IT/Security Auditor at USAA.
Large Equipment Director - Luis Ganem
Luis Ganem is an IT Senior Lead Auditor at Wells Fargo who enjoys helping and coaching people, and managing complex IT Security and Infrastructure audit projects. He has spent the majority of his 10-year career in the Financial and Energy Utility sectors gaining experiences in areas such as Information Security, IT, Risk, Governance, Compliance, Cybersecurity and IT Audit. Luis has earned a BBA with a concentration in Finance and Business Computer Systems from New Mexico State University and is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). Luis is serving his first term board membership in the capacity of Director at Large-Equipment for ISACA’s San Antonio local chapter. Outside of the office, Luis enjoys collecting vinyl records and planning his next trip.

Javier currently works in the Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance department at Valero Energy Corporation. He has eight years of experience in Internal Audit, IT Governance, Information Security and Risk Management. Javier holds a BBA in Information System Management and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio.
