President's Message:

Hi Everyone,

As another program year begins, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank those Board members who have committed to volunteering on the Chapter Board for this upcoming program year. Additionally, I'd like to reflect on the past year and touch on what we hope to accomplish this Chapter year.

We are very lucky to have our entire Chapter Board committing to serve for another program year: Chris Rodgers, Karl Krohn, Audrey Magennis, Ashley Kido, Diane Rudy, Toan Do, and Aaron Miller. I'd also like to thank and welcome our newest Chapter Board member, Jarod Simpson.  We had no Board members leave the Board going into this year, which I believe is a testament to the quality of our Chapter’s operation.

From a program perspective, this past year was a success. We held 9 programs totaling 67 CPEs.  Additionally, we sponsored an ACL User’s Group meeting which provided an additional 3 CPEs.  This a significant number of programs for a Chapter and a Chapter Board of our size.  We hope to continue this trend going into this next program year.

Other successes this past year included the full transition of our website to ISACA’s hosted website solution, along with the implementation of our new registration tool, cvent.  We’ve also delved into social media with our LinkedIn group.  We’ve further engaged our academic community, with various contacts made with local colleges and universities.  A Cybersecurity student group at PSU Harrisburg, “ISG Cyber Lions”, has been created with whom we hope to partner with on programs/activities this coming year.  Lastly, two of our Board members, Chris Rodgers and Karl Krohn, attended ISACA’s Global Leadership Summit in Lisbon, Portugal.  This summit was designed to facilitate a future vision for ISACA, formulated by individual ISACA Chapter Board members.  We’re proud to have 2 of our Board members involved in this effort.

Going into this next program year, we remain committed to increasing efforts in the area of academic outreach by developing relationships with higher education institutions.  We will continue to make our top priority providing low cost CPE programs/seminars with topics pertinent to members, attempting to utilize locations across our Chapter region.

Our Chapter Board consists of a number of long-time Board members, as well as, a new volunteer. I believe those who have served on the Board for a number of years would agree that volunteering, in addition to providing 20 CPEs annually, has further enriched their professional growth. New Board members may be enticed by the CPEs, but I'm sure they will find a number of additional benefits to being part of the Board. If you are interested in serving or contributing time to the Board, please contact me or any Board member. You may also e-mail us at the Chapter mailbox (information@isaca-harrisburg.org).

Please don't hesitate to provide suggestions on program topics, speakers, event locations, or other worthwhile service activities for 2016-2017.

I'm looking forward to a great year. Thanks for your ongoing support of our Chapter.

All the best,

Scott
