Volunteering for ISACA and ITGI
How to Volunteer
The key boards and committees of ISACA® and the IT Governance Institute (ITGI) are responsible for ensuring that the organizations' activities advance the goals of being the leading community of inspirational career and workplace support to constituents in IT assurance, security and governance (ISACA) and the leading reference on IT-enabled business systems governance for the global business community (ITGI). Participants on boards and committees help ensure successful certification programs, comprehensive professional conferences, timely education programs, insightful research, thorough and appropriate online resources, representative professional standards and financially sound infrastructures. In short, they ensure that members receive the high-quality resources they have come to expect from ISACA and ITGI.
Because key boards and committees are so important to the organizations' operations, making sure they are populated each year with quality, dedicated volunteers is a critical job. We know you, as an ISACA member, already have a full agenda of professional and personal responsibilities. Why should you consider adding to that agenda by volunteering to serve on an ISACA/ITGI key board or committee?
-
Participation will provide you with the opportunity to enhance your professional and leadership skills.
-
Key board or committee membership will enable you to build an impressive international network of peer contacts.
-
Participation will offer you the satisfaction of taking a personal role in the future of the association and institute, as well as the IT assurance, security and governance audit, control and security profession.
-
Serving on a key board or committee will make you a better informed member.
-
Key boards and committees provide you a forum to share your expertise with others, as well as learn about new areas of interest.
The volunteers in any organization are a special group of people willing to give their time and energy to promote a cause for the betterment of the whole. As stated by Ev Johnson, 2005-06 international president, "Simply put, ISACA cannot survive and thrive without the efforts of its volunteers. The synergy between the organization and its volunteer leaders is remarkable: the association grows in credibility and reputation as a result of volunteer input, and the volunteers increase in experience, expertise and leadership as a result of their participation in association activities. I have found this to be the case in my own involvement, and I encourage others to give it a try."
Please consider making an important contribution to the achievement of the ISACA and ITGI strategy by offering your time and expertise on a key board or committee.
