CRISC CBT exam 2017

Hello all, As was announced, this year CRISC exam will be computer based (CBT). Correct? Has anyone some experience in that particular form? So far I found some “contradiction” information - 1. I registered to exam center, in which as defaults there are no PC (last year was paper based) 2. Exam will be CBT 3. I cannot bring any electronic devices. Sound a bit wired, but I hope just initial misunderstanding. Has anyone tried any test on-line trainings - for CRISC? Any link? Thanks Mirek

I am pretty sure no one has any experience in this form since its the first time  ISACA is introducing CBT. But I would like to think that ISACA has made all the neccesary arrangements regarding the computers. Bringing your own devices can be equated to bringing text book in the exam.

RE: CRISC CBT exam 2017

I can see that you do not have experience of CBT exams. Ths Centers selected for these exams administer ISACA exams, they administer so many different CBT exams in IT, Finance, HR and other fields. The Centers are fully equiped with computers and you are not required to bring any laptop. There are exams you are allowed to take using your own laptop in your house. Even for these, your full desktop is very visible to the invigilator and they can see what applications are open or closed on your laptop. There is technology available which makes your screens visible and they will tell you to close them. Regards, Fred

RE: CRISC CBT exam 2017

Thank you for first comments.

Unfortunately I do not feel more secure (yet).  This is CRISC exam, so taking that approach:

-          I cannot accept risk, cannot transfer, do not want to avoid,  so must mitigate.

I did passed a couple of CBT tests,  but always was  on-line on my computer.  All CSX (Nexus) new ISACA CBT  can be done from own laptop, in prepared environment, with camera and mic on, and life remote supervision.

As was mentioned, ISACA is doing CBT for CISA, CRISC, CISM first time  and not all location have same set up and some are under-develop (being polite).

During exam we should focus on TEST content, not on challenging environment, like new keyboard, not right resolution, fonts or visibility on the screen.

When registered in ISACA, there were link to training provided with testing of own laptop, set up and application. So I had impression that would be BYOD.   The testing canter (only one available for me) is normal language center, not very modern, that is why my “worries”. Unfortunately answered from ISACA was not very helpful (so far).

But still few weeks to go, so hopefully will be mitigated.

RE: CRISC CBT exam 2017

Hi,

I wrote the CRISC exam.  I passed.  I did not have a good experience with the testing center.  Sylvain Learning was chosen.  I don't know if it applies to all locations but the PC was setup but was having connection issues and a one-time password with a secure browser setup correctly.  This is the first time for CBT.  Troubleshooting was performed with the rep of the learning center and their technical support.  They fixed the problem but it was 90 minutes to troubleshoot and fix.  My exam was from 12 - 4.  Fortunately, the testing center accommodated me to write until 5:30 whenever the countdown of the exam ended.  I was worried that I was not able to write that day but a happy ending none the less.

RE: CRISC CBT exam 2017

Just today I was able to register to the exam in a city 100 kms from the local chapter city (Barcelona, Spain). Strongly disappointed with ISACA's Organization, nothing to do with the local Chapter. Still, the candidate ID from ISACA is different from the candidate ID in my registration. And based on the comments from other candidates, I feel a very poor confidence in this exam. Nothing makes me feel this is all well under control. I cannot understand why so many certification Organizations are able to organize such exams in Barcelona without problems, and ISACA is experiencing so many problems...

RE: CRISC CBT exam 2017

Am i the only one whos not getting the point here ? I wrote only 2 isaca papers so far. While cisa was in paper format ( Back in 2016) , cgeit was a cbt. I had my cgeit yesterday and i did not face any challenge. I rather felt its more efficient than conventional pen/pencil and paper based tests. The test center was more a training center with about 30 computers however there were monitoring cameras and the staff also were there for supervising. While cisa was held in the hall of a five star hotel and this training center's ambience was not as good, what i liked was i got the result immediately after the test. In case of cisa i had to wait for about a week for the result. I have my crisc and cism scheduled at the same place next month.. :)

RE: CRISC CBT exam 2017

Hello again,

Unfortunately I faced problems....

the exam was scheduled for May 22nd,  and for a couple of days I was trying to get hold of the testing center to check the "logistic" - never been there. and I failed communicated over phone or e-mail. then I read a couple of forums in local portals, and figure out that that testing center (which primary was language school)  had financial problems for months and in April closed the business, but not making any announcement for that, of course.

Well happened here and there nowadays, but was is not good neither ISACA not PSIONLINE was not aware and good not make any comments, because.... the testing center was not replaying any e-mails.   I must say - quite embarrassing like for such a organization like ISACA.

Away, few minutes before 48-hour deadline I was able to reschedule the exam, without risking loosing time & money.

Next week I will be in 2017 CACS conference in Munich and definitely I will escalate the situation.

As positive side effect - I gained a couple of day for earing, last weeks for busy at work

good luck for all of you in coming tests.

RE: CRISC CBT exam 2017

Hi Mirek,

That was quite unfortunate. However i believe ISACA would have some basic requirement from these computer centers who associate with isaca as authorized test centers. In case the services don't meet basic network/ hardware requirements, they should be brought to isaca's notice. ISACA's cbts come with a survey questionnaire at the end asking users about the quality of services and questions.

Hello all,
Could anyone answer the following questions please:

1. Did you get your final results on the spot, after you have finished the exam?
2. Do you have the ability to go up and scroll down to review your answers and check the flagged ones
That you may have left for later on?!
Thanks a lot for your prompt response.

RE: CRISC CBT exam 2017

1. Yes, you get your provisional results on the spot after you have finished the exams. A message is accompanied with the results message that the official results will be sent to you after 10 days. 2. Yes, you have the ability to go back to change the answer either by flaging it or if you remember you go direct to the Question number and clear the answer and re-enter the new answer. 3. At the end of the session you there is a questionaire, please do not skip it, it asks you among couple of questions to asses quality of testing center.
