To qualify for AAIA, candidates must either hold a CISA certification or one of the following certifications with an IT audit or IT advisory role focus: CIA, CPA, ACCA, FFCA, Canadian CPA, CPA Australia, FCPA or Japanese CPA.

All holders qualify:

  • CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor from ISACA)

Holders with an IT audit or IT advisory role focus:

  • CIA (Certified Internal Auditor from the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA))
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA))
  • ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants Qualification from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants)
  • FFCA (ACCA Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA))
  • Canadian CPA (Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant from the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada)
  • CPA Australia (Certified Practicing Accountant)
  • FCPA (CPA Australia Fellow Certified Practicing Accountant)
  • Japanese CPA (Japanese Certified Public Accountant from the Japanese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (JICPA))

How do I become AI Audit certified?

Getting ready for the exam

Attention Residents of India, Mainland China, and Hong Kong:
The AAIA exam is exclusively available at testing centers. Individuals in these regions cannot use live remote proctoring for this exam.
 

Register for the exam

AAIA candidates must hold an active CISA certification or a certification from the qualified list above. Upon registration, AAIA exam candidates have a twelve-month eligibility period to take their exam. This means that from the date you register, you have twelve months to take your AAIA exam. It is important to note that the exam registration fee must be paid in full before an exam candidate can schedule and take an exam.

ISACA has a zero-tolerance policy for fraudulent test taking activities. Those involved in fraudulent activities will be subject to score nullification and/or certification revocation. Please see “Terms of Use – 16. Exams.”

Seamless certification journey

ISACA’S AAIA certification exams are computer-based and administered at authorized PSI testing centers globally or as remotely proctored exams. AAIA exam registration is continuous, meaning candidates can register any time, no restrictions. Candidates can schedule a testing appointment as early as 48 hours after payment of exam registration fees.

ISACA’s Zero-Tolerance Policy

ISACA has a zero-tolerance policy for fraudulent test-taking activities. Those involved in fraudulent activities will be subject to score nullification and/or certification revocation.

Please note, AAIA exam appointments are only available 90 days in advance.  If you do not see your exam site or date available more than 90 days in advance, please check back when it is closer to your desired exam date.  If you still do not see your desired exam site or date available, please verify that your AAIA exam eligibility has not expired by logging into your ISACA Account, and clicking the Certification & CPE Management tab. 

Rescheduling an exam 

You can reschedule your AAIA exam anytime, without penalty, during your eligibility period if done a minimum of 48 hours prior to your scheduled testing appointment. To reschedule an appointment: Log in to your ISACA Account and follow the rescheduling steps in the Scheduling Guide. 

How to become certified

Taking and passing the AAIA certification exam is just the first step in becoming certified. To become AAIA certified, an individual must first meet the following requirements:

Candidates have five years from passing the exam to apply for AAIA certification.
