- With this alliance, the regional government aims to make Madrid a place equipped to prevent and respond to technological threats.
- Both institutions will collaborate on citizen and business training, content dissemination, and talent development, among other initiatives.
Madrid – The Community of Madrid will collaborate with the international non-profit organization ISACA—a global reference in digital trust and protection—to help make the region a safer digital environment. The goal is to promote the ethical and effective use of innovation and prepare professionals to maximize their impact.
Through an agreement signed by the Regional Minister for Digitalization, Miguel López-Valverde, and ISACA’s Chief Global Strategy Officer, Chris Dimitriadis, both entities have committed to working together to strengthen digital capabilities among Madrid’s citizens and to foster a culture of cyber defense across society and business. This will be rooted in best practices and greater awareness of the risks and challenges posed by technological advances.
In this regard, López-Valverde emphasized the importance of raising awareness among citizens and businesses about critical issues like data protection and the responsible use of new tools, especially as society undergoes a major transformation. “This new alliance aims to generate a positive impact on the digital ecosystem by promoting a more trustworthy, resilient, and well-prepared environment,” he added.
The three-year agreement sets out four main areas of focus:
- Awareness, training, and knowledge-sharing through courses, workshops, and public information campaigns;
- Dissemination of knowledge through events such as conferences, congresses, and outreach activities;
- Talent development and employability through professional training programmes that respond to the growing demand for cybersecurity specialists;
- Public-private and academic collaboration through the creation of synergies with companies and educational institutions.
To support these efforts, ISACA will draw on its international presence in 190 countries through 228 chapters, and its global network of more than 185,000 members and 460,000 certified professionals in fields such as information governance, risk management, privacy, and innovation.
This collaboration will also be driven locally by the ISACA Madrid Chapter, represented at the signing ceremony by its president, Vanesa Gil Laredo. With over 1,500 members, the Madrid Chapter will play an active role in developing local initiatives for training, awareness, and strengthening digital talent.
