ISACA Europe becomes first to renew pledge to EU Cybersecurity Skills Academy as new initiative addresses skills gap and gender disparity.
Brussels, Belgium—Enrollment is now open for the She@Cyber training programme, a new Erasmus+ initiative designed to bridge the gender gap in cybersecurity by equipping women and underrepresented groups with practical, beginner-friendly digital skills. Coordinated by Vernian RTI and developed with the support of partners including ISACA, Innovation Hive, Geinnova, and Exeo Labs, the programme offers flexible, self-paced online training designed specifically for learners from non-technical backgrounds.
While the project implementation and coordination are based in five European countries, the training is open to participants from across Europe. The project’s goal is to build a European-wide community, and since the training is delivered online, open-access, and free, any learner across Europe can enroll.
The curriculum covers five key areas:
- Cybersecurity Fundamentals and Business Resilience
- Emerging Technologies and Cybersecurity Challenges
- Cyber Attack Theory and Defense Mechanisms
- Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications of Cybersecurity
- Professional Skills for Cybersecurity Careers
Participants who complete modules receive certificates of participation. At the heart of the curriculum is ISACA’s Cybersecurity Fundamentals Certificate, offering foundational knowledge and industry-recognized credentials to help learners enter or transition into cyber roles.
“Cybersecurity urgently needs skilled talent and diverse perspectives,” said Chris Dimitriadis, Chief Global Strategy Officer at ISACA. “She@Cyber is not only about upskilling—it’s about creating real, inclusive pathways into a sector that’s critical for Europe’s digital future. This initiative builds on the impact of ISACA’s SheLeadsTech programme, extending our commitment to empowering women in digital trust across Europe.”
This launch comes at a pivotal moment. According to ISACA’s 2025 Tech Workplace & Culture Report, 87% of global tech professionals acknowledge gender disparities still exist, and nearly three-quarters (73%) of IT workers in Europe report experiencing burnout, often linked to a shortage of trained talent. By opening access to vocational education, She@Cyber aims to alleviate workforce pressure and strengthen Europe’s cybersecurity pipeline.
In parallel with the She@Cyber training programme launch, ISACA Europe has become the first organization to renew its pledge to the EU Cybersecurity Skills Academy, reaffirming its commitment to upskilling, diversity, academic collaboration and scholarship. This pledge, published on the European Commission website, will remain active through December 2026, with regular progress updates submitted to the Commission. This effort builds on ISACA’s broader gender equity initiatives, including its global SheLeadsTech programme, which empowers and elevates women in digital trust and cybersecurity fields.
