Annual Scholarship

Every year, Philadelphia ISACA holds an essay competition for students in the Delaware Valley.  Submissions are reviewed by a sub-committee of the Philadelphia ISACA Chapter Grants & Scholarships Committee, which consists of ISACA members who volunteer to determine the top essays.

2016 Scholarship Winners

We are proud to announce the winners of the 2016 Philadelphia ISACA Chapter’s Scholarship Program.  This year’s essay topics were 1) Incident Detection and Response, 2)  Third Party Risk Management and 3) Mobile Applications.  The 2016 essayists hail from Duquesne University, Goldey-Beacom College, Rowan University, Rutgers University, Saint Joseph's University, Stockton University, Temple University, and Villanova University.

The competition was hot and furious with numerous, high quality essays offered up.  Our esteemed panel of judges found it challenging to limit the selection to only three essays.  The winners were only a hair apart in the final ratings!   Philadelphia ISACA Chapter congratulates:

  • 1st place winner for $2,500 – Kyle Chalmers, St. Joseph’s University for his essay titled "Mobile Applications"
  • 2nd place winner for $1,500 – Kerwing Hy, Temple University for an essay on "Third Party Risk Management"
  • 3rd place winner for $1,000 – Thomas Lukman of Temple University for his incident detection and response essay titled “Advance Persistent Threats"

We would also like to congratulate Richard Flannigan, Thu Nguyen and Dr. Virginia Miori on the accomplishments of their students Kyle, Kerwing and Thomas.
