Closing Keynote Address

Determining Who You are Dealing with—And other Ways to Save the World a Lot of Loot

Lord Jonathan Evans
Director General of MI5 - the British Security Service (2007 to 2013)

Before the legendary fictional super spy, James Bond went on assignment, his mission briefing would include the insights of Britain’s MI5 counter-intelligence agency. Before you face growing threats that increasingly impact the role of professionals in IT audit, assurance, compliance, control and risk—as well as information security and cybersecurity—hear what MI5’s former chief and advisor to global leaders has to say.

As head of MI5 Lord Evans was one of the British government’s principal advisors on national security threats including terrorism, cyber security and espionage and was a member of the Prime Minister’s National Security Council. He also led MI5’s work to ensure the safety and security of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games in London. Lord Evans will wrap up the conference and give a synopsis on spying activity in the UK, the transition from analog to digital tradecraft, and what other kinds of threats and attacks are being seen right now. He’ll share his expert advice on how to know when a response is necessary and how to avoid being scared into spending money unnecessarily.

Opening Keynote Address

Escalating Global Threats to Data Security: What Lessons Can We Take From Other Conflicts?

Jakob Scharf
Former Director General of the Danish Security and Intelligence Service (DSIS) from 2007 – 2014

Governments around the world are more and more apt to treat data security and cybersecurity as matters of national security. As enterprises look for ways to protect information assets and maintain compliance, lessons learned from defenders against more mature global threats will prove to be increasingly valuable.

Gain a frontline perspective on responding to massively escalating threats from security expert and opening keynote speaker Jakob Scharf at EuroCACS/ISRM 2015. Learn how, shortly after becoming the Director General of Danish Security and Intelligence, Scharf successfully led his team to identify and counter an exponential rise in Al Quaida terrorist threats following publication of cartoons depicting the prophet Muhammed in a Danish newspaper. Many of the lessons he will share are transferable directly to improve the security of your enterprise.

Keynote Address

Adapting at the Speed of Change

Ben Hammersley
Trends and digital guru, author and futurist

Demystify the Internet, decode cyberspace, learn what the future of technology might look like and whether you will recognise yourself when you get there. Hear futurist, journalist, and technologist Ben Hammersley discuss future tech and the innovations of the revolution we are living through with. Hammersley is author of the acclaimed book 64 Things You Need To Know Now For Then, and Now for then: How to face the Digital Future without Fear, inventor of the word “Podcast,” and innovator.

A journalist, futurist and technologist, Hammersly specialises in the effects of the Internet and the ubiquitous digital network on the world’s political, cultural and social spheres. In the rapidly advancing world of social media and side-channel data, Hammersly will discuss the everyday struggle to balance the need for Security and Privacy versus the FOMO (fear of missing out). He’ll also provide us with a unique insight into the future of technology and the collection and use of data both in the workplace and at home.
