Insights Into China’s Personal Information Protection Law
On 20 August 2021, the National People's Congress (NPC) passed the final version of the Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) of the People’s Republic of China, a comprehensive privacy law that covers multiple facets of personal information protection.
PIPL has had a significant impact inside and outside of China’s borders due to its near-universal applicability to virtually all sectors and applicability of extraterritorial provisions, including enterprises that:
- Provide products or services for natural persons in the People's Republic of China
- Analyze or evaluate the behaviors of natural persons within the territory of the People's Republic of China
- Any other circumstance as provided by any law or administrative regulation
ISACA®’s new publication, Insights Into China’s Personal Information Protection Law, will provide you with a deeper understanding of PIPL’s key concepts and how it compares to both the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Privacy Framework. You’ll also get an in-depth look at processing requirements and explore the complex topic of cross-border data transfer protocols under the new law.
