The ISACA Cybersecurity: Penetration Testing Online Course provides students with an introductory understanding of penetration testing and ethical hacking. Penetration testing involves using defined methods to breach a system in order to determine if a system is vulnerable to attack and exploitation of valuable information. Ethical hackers expose vulnerabilities and determine whether unauthorized or malicious activity is possible and to what extent it could cause harm.
At the completion of this course, learners will be able to:
- Describe what ethical hacking is and identify the methodology and tools for performing penetration tests
- Describe network architecture
- Define TCP/IP protocol
- Describe the steps for conducting a penetration test.
- Identify common vulnerabilities and types of attacks
- Describe information gathering techniques and reconnaissance tools
- Identify vulnerabilities by accessing and searching databases
- Describe and use common vulnerability assessment tools including:
- Generic network vulnerability scanners
- TCP/IP service-specific programs (e.g., http)
- Metasploit Framework
- Describe what to report to a customer after completing a vulnerability assessment or penetration test
- Evaluate the design of a network for flaws and weaknesses
- Explain how the weaknesses and flaws of VPN and VLAN systems could result in potential attacks
This course includes six performance-based labs. A performance-based lab places the learner in a virtual environment where they execute common tasks to complete the lab objective. Each lab includes set-up information and learning aids to help guide learners through the lab.
Labs included in this course:
- Linux Shell and Commands
- Packet Inquiry
- Network Discovery
- Service Enumeration
- Network Vulnerability Identification and Exploitation
- Evidence Removal
Learners will have access to the course for six months from date of purchase and will earn 10 CPEs upon completion. This course has a seat time of approximately 8 hours and is accessed via the Learning Access tab of your MyISACA dashboard.
