Editor’s note: ISACA is introducing the Advanced in AI Risk (AAIR) certification to equip professionals to excel as AI reshapes the risk environment. The beta program for AAIR is currently underway. Learn more about AAIR in the FAQs below.
Why is ISACA introducing the AAIR credential?
As organizations increasingly integrate artificial intelligence into their strategic frameworks, risk professionals face the challenge of balancing AI innovation with effective risk management. While AI offers transformative potential, it introduces new vulnerabilities, threats and risks that require careful oversight. Risk managers must not only understand the evolving landscape and manage AI-related risk profiles but also collaborate across functions to ensure comprehensive risk communication and management.
ISACA’s® Advanced in AI Risk certification is meticulously crafted to equip professionals with specialized knowledge and skills for managing the risks associated with AI integration within organizations. This program validates candidates' ability to evaluate AI-related vulnerabilities, assess opportunities and impacts, and expertly navigate the risk lifecycle. Participants are trained to recommend a response to AI risk, work cross-functionally to communicate and oversee these risks, and develop a comprehensive understanding of various AI technologies and their associated challenges.
Who should consider the AAIR certification?
Risk professionals who hold a CISA, CISM, CRISC, CGEIT, CDPSE, CRMP, CRMA, CGRC, CISSP, CERP, CRCM or PMI-RMP certification.
Why were these specific prerequisite credentials for AAIR chosen?
The AAIR program focuses on AI-specific risks and does not cover foundational IT risk concepts. These prerequisites ensure participants already have the IT risk background required to engage with AAIR’s complexity and depth.
What are the domains for AAIR?
- AI Risk Governance and Framework Integration
- AI Risk Program Management
- AI Life Cycle Risk Management
How is AAIR different from ISACA’s other AI certifications?
The ISACA Advanced in AI Audit (AAIA) certification focuses on developing AI audit leaders and the ISACA Advanced in AI Security Management (AAISM) empowers information security professionals to protect against AI-specific threats.
AAIR prepares risk professionals to effectively assess and manage AI risk at their organizations while harnessing the transformative power of AI.
